On January 16, the Higher Council of the Order of Accountants awarded the Special Jury Prize in the Accountants' Trophy for the quality of environmental and social information to Gaz de France, for its 2006 sustainable development report.

 Created in 2000, this trophy is awarded to companies for the quality of their non-financial reporting. This is the third time that Gaz de France has received an award in the 8 years of the Trophy's existence.

 The shortlisting committee of auditors, together with the jury of members from institutions and voluntary organisations, praised "an excellent report and a uniformly consistent, relevant and clear-thinking sustainable development process".  The level of rigour demanded is the same as for financial reporting. Gaz de France is one of only 3 French companies to achieve this level of quality, testament to the reliability of its performance indicators.

 This year, the Jury found itself in an exceptional position, which prompted it to depart from its rule of never singling out the same company 2 years running. In the words of Tita Zeitoun, Chair of the Environment Commission and the Sustainable Development Club of the Higher Council of Accountants, "the quality of Gaz de France's sustainable development report was markedly superior to those of the 51 other candidate companies. That is why the Jury made an exception in awarding them the Special Prize, in order to encourage further significant improvement in the quality of Gaz de France's non-financial reporting. »

 At the Trophy award ceremony, Françoise Guichard, Head of Sustainable Development at Gaz de France, commented: "Reporting is a central component in our sustainable development process. It is how we keep the Group's stakeholders informed of our commitments and achievements in the field of sustainable development. This award is a way of thanking and encouraging the entire workforce of Gaz de France, who all contribute to this process."
