Milan, Paris, 26 September 2007 – Gaz de France has exercised its option to acquire from Camfin a 20% stake in Energie Investimenti, for an amount of 40 million euros. Following the transaction, Gaz de France owns 60% of Energie Investimenti, while Camfin holds the remaining 40%.
Energie Investimenti is a joint-venture operating in the natural gas sector in Italy. It has a portfolio with 850,000 residential and small business customers and also sells gas to industrial customers under the Gaz de France energY label. Recording sales of 3 billion cubic metres of natural gas per year, Energie Investimenti is one of the top-ranking operators in Italy.
Gaz de France is a major energy player in Europe. As the leading natural gas distributor in Europe, Gaz de France employs over 50,000 employees and earned 28 billion euros in sales in 2006. The Group holds a portfolio of 14 million clients, approximately 11 million of which are in France. Listed on the Paris Stock Exchange, Gaz de France is also part of the CAC 40 and Dow Jones Stoxx 600 indices.
Camfin is the company listed on the Milan Stock Exchange that heads a Group active in the sectors of energy and of managing participations. Present in the Italian energy market since 1915, Camfin has progressively developed its businesses in other sectors in view of a strategy of business diversification. The parent company, Camfin SpA, closed 2006 with a positive net result of 16.7 million euros.
