In addition to the activities of its Foundation, the Gaz de France Group is committed to fostering community commitment and culture together with its industrial partners in the countries where it operates.
Strength in numbers
Because there is strength in numbers, Gaz de France allies itself with other companies in its corporate patronage role.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their partnership, Gaz de France and the company Gazprom supported:
- the promotion of Russian art in France by:
- organising a big exhibition at the musée d'Orsay on “Russian Art in the Second Half of the 19th Century”,
- publishing the book on Russian art, "Carte d'or de la Russie, les chefs-d'œuvre de l'art russe", distributed to art schools,
- promoting French culture in Russia by creating a French-inspired garden at Gazprom's head office,
- Nicolas Vanier's Siberian Odyssey.
In Egypt, the Group is contributing to the country's economic and environmental development by:
- taking part in Jean-Yves Empereur's project, with the friends of the Centre for Alexandrian Studies for the El Nahib reservoir,
- publishing books of photographs to promote Egypt's natural heritage.
Community commitment: a Group priority
The Gaz de France Group also works alongside the most deprived populations to provide emergency help.
- In Algeria, the Group made two donations to the victims of the Boumerdès earthquake in 2003:
- a donation for the families of employees of SONATRACH, a gas company which is one of the Group's partners,
- a donation for the people of Algeria, paid to the Fondation de France.
- Through its subsidiary Distrigaz Sud, the Group came to the aid of the victims of the Romanian floods:
- renovating schools,
- building medical dispensaries in three villages particularly affected by the flooding.
