The Group's overall sustainable development policy is based on different domain-specific policies: public service contract, environment policy, safety policies, etc. In developing this overall policy, the Group identifies, analyses and prioritises its stakeholders' needs and the challenges it faces. It then defines the types of relationship, the responses and measures to be implemented.
Different tools are employed in implementing and tracking the Group's sustainable development policy: the Sustainable Development Action Plan, the integrated Quality Safety Environment–Risk-management system, the sustainable development performance audit and the stakeholder reporting system.
In operational terms, the Group has set up a specific organisation to implement its sustainable development policy.
A role model approach

2007: Gaz de France is inducted into the CLI (Climate Disclosure Leadership Index), made up of the companies which are most effective in incorporating climate change into their business strategy.
