Apprentices: we want your talents!

In 2008, Gaz de France is taking on 400 young people for apprenticeship or vocational training contracts.

What is apprenticeship?

Apprenticeship is a way of working towards qualifications whilst getting professional experience in a company. It offers the chance of a job in the company at the end of the apprenticeship.

Apprentices work towards their diploma alternately in the host company and at the Apprentice Training Centre (CFA) they choose when signing the contract. The contract between the apprentice and the company is for a period of 1 to 3 years, depending on the end qualification.

Being an apprentice at Gaz de France

For Gaz de France, apprenticeship is an important component in the renewal of the company's skills base. The Group has supported placement training for many years and offers its apprentices a high level of assistance:

  • personalised supervision by a company tutor throughout the contract,
  • a salary of between 45% and 78% of the national minimum wage depending on the apprentice's age and year of training,
  • in addition to profit-sharing as a company employee, advantageous conditions as regards expenses: accommodation, transport, purchase of manuals and learning material, help with learning to drive, contribution to health cover, etc.

Gaz de France supports the following French vocational qualifications:

  • Bac Pro TMSEC (vocational baccalaureate as an Energy and Climatic Systems Maintenance Technician),
  • Bac Pro Services (vocational baccalaureate in Services),
  • BTS FEE (post-baccalaureate qualification in Fluids Energies and Environment),
  • other qualifications, from vocational baccalaureate to master's degree, doctorate, business studies, etc.

Apprenticeship and diversity
For Gaz de France, apprenticeship is also a way to give young people from all backgrounds and young workers with disabilities the opportunity to start out on their working lives.

For 2008, the Group has undertaken to give apprenticeship or vocational training contracts to 20 young people with disabilities and 40 young people from Urban Action Zones (ZUS).
