Gaz de France reorganizes its Corporate Finance Department and makes new appointments

Paris, October 9, 2007 – Following the reorganization completed in May earlier this year and the appointment of Stéphane Brimont as Finance Director, Gaz de France has updated the organization of its Corporate Finance Department in order to reinforce the supervision of the Group and enhance the efficiency of its financial services.

The new Corporate Finance Department is organized around five entities:

  • The Corporate Finance & Cash Management Department, which also assumes responsibility for taxation, market risks, and insurance,
  • The Controlling Department, which brings together the functions previously entrusted to the Accounts Department and the Group Management Control Department,
  • The Internal Financial Control Department, a newly created structure,
  • The Investor Relations Department,
  • The Investments & Acquisitions Department, which now forms part of the Corporate Finance Department.

 

In view of this reorganization, the Group has proceeded with the following appointments:

  • Marc Haestier is confirmed in his position as Director, Corporate Finance & Cash Management,
  • Jean-Christophe Kypriotis has been appointed Director, Internal Financial Control,
  • Benoît Mignard has been appointed Director, Investments & Acquisitions,
  • Brigitte Roeser-Herlin is confirmed in her position as Director, Investor Relations,
  • Jacques Samuel has been appointed Director of the Controlling Department,
  • Olivier Feist has been appointed Director of Accounts, reporting to the Director of the Controlling Department.

 

At the same time, the Group has proceeded with the appointment of Financial Controllers within each of its different operating divisions.

 

Biographies:

 

Stéphane Brimont (39) graduated from the prestigious École polytechnique and École nationale des Ponts et Chaussées schools of engineering.
After obtaining initial professional experience with the Crédit Lyonnais bank in New York, he moved to the Departmental Infrastructures Division of the Vaucluse to take charge of the Town Planning & Construction Department. In 1997, he joined the Budget Division in the French Finance Ministry where he was responsible for questions related to Research, Post and Telecommunications, and, subsequently, Transportation. In May 2002, he joined the personal staff the French Prime Minister as an adviser for budgetary matters.
Stéphane Brimont joined Gaz de France in 2004 where he served as Director of Corporate Strategy and as an Adviser to the Chairman. He has served as Finance Director since April 30, 2007.

 

Olivier Feist (39) holds a degree from the ESC Rouen School of Business Administration and is a certified public accountant.
After beginning his career with CRD Total France as a Management Controller, he moved to the Ernst & Young Audit firm in 1991 where he worked on various major accounts in the Utilities, Defence and Automotive industries. He helped several customers to prepare for switching over to international standards or with their plans for stock market floatations. He was appointed Principal Director in 2005.
He moved to Gaz de France in September 2007 to take up the position of Director of Accounts, responsible for both the parent company and consolidated accounts, and for the accounting guidelines adopted within the Group.

 

Marc Haestier (47) graduated from the Institute of Administration & Management of the University of Louvain, and holds an MBA awarded by the Catholic University of Leuven.
He began his career working for the Crédit Lyonnais in Brussels before joining the Arjo Wiggins Group in 1985 where he held various positions in financial management in Belgium and, subsequently, in the United Kingdom. In 1997, he took up a position in the ALSTOM Group as Group Treasurer and, subsequently, as Director of Financing & Cash Management.
He joined Gaz de France in September 2004 to assume responsibility for financing operations and cash management. He has been Director, Corporate Finance & Cash Management, since 2007.

 

Jean-Christophe Kypriotis (53) holds a degree from the ESC Marseille School of Business Administration.
He began his career in 1977 within EDF and Gaz de France's joint Distribution entity where he held a series of financial and operational responsibilities. In 1999, he created the national accounting unit responsible for producing and consolidating the accounting and financial data of EDF GDF Services.
In 2003, he was appointed Audit Manager of the Gaz de France Group before being named Deputy Director of the Gaz de France distribution branch in 2005. In this capacity, he oversaw work done to prepare the Information System of the branch as it became a separate subsidiary and for the 2007 deregulation of the natural gas markets for individual customers.
He was appointed Director, Internal Financial Control in 2007.

 

Benoît Mignard (47) graduated as a civil engineer from the École des Mines de Paris.
He began his career in 1982 in the Research Department of EDF. He joined Gaz de France in 1992 to work in the Finance Department responsible, successively, for the Trading Room and for the Budget. In 2000, he joined the Trading Department where he was in charge of economic research and, subsequently, the development of spot transactions in Europe.
In 2006, he joined the Investments & Acquisitions Department of which he was appointed Director en 2007.

 

Brigitte Roeser-Herlin (48) is a graduate of the ESCP European School of Management and holds an MBA.
She began her career in 1982 with Rhône-Poulenc in international auditing and was appointed Finance Director of  a subsidiary in Spain in 1986. In 1990, she created the Financial Communications Department of the Rhône-Poulenc Group. In 1993, she was appointed Director of Corporate Finance of the Group and, subsequently in 1995, General Manager of the Chemicals Distribution Division before being made Director of Rhône-Poulenc's sales network in Europe. She then joined Rhodia to take charge of a series of worldwide projects designed to improve operating and commercial efficiency.
Brigitte Roeser-Herlin joined Gaz de France in 2006 to take charge of Investor Relations.

 

Jacques Samuel (47) graduated as a civil engineer from the École des Mines de Paris and holds a degree from the ESSEC School of Management.
After beginning his career with Banque Indosuez, he joined Alcatel in 1991 where he held various positions in the finance function both at Headquarters and in the Business Units. In 1999, he moved to the Framatome Group to take up a position as Director of Financial Control of the Connector Technology Division. In 2002, he was appointed Director, Management Control & Accounts of the Pechiney Group.
In 2005, he moved to Gaz de France as Director of Management Control before being appointed Director of Controlling in 2007.
