Gazdefrance.com, 1st website to obtain the Euracert European accessibility label

Euracert label

September 21, 2007 – Access to information for all is a priority as fundamental as access to energy for all. That is why Gaz de France makes its corporate website – gazdefrance.com – accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.

On September 13, 2007, this commitment to accessibility was recognized when Gaz de France received the European Euracert label for its French version, which follows the award of the French AccessiWeb label in January 2007.

This makes Gaz de France the 1st website labelled for the quality of its access to obtain transnational recognition in Europe.

In France, potential Internet users include 3.1 million people with motor disabilities, 1.5 million with visual disabilities and 500,000 with partial or profound hearing difficulties. They have access to specialist tools, such as voice reading software or braille touch pads. For these tools to work effectively, websites also need to comply with Web accessibility standards. These are the standards that the gazdefrance.com website meets.

In keeping with its values, Gaz de France is building on the experience acquired with its corporate site to begin the process of making all its websites accessible.
