Gaz de France joins the "Grenelle de l’Environnement"

August 30, 2007 – Gaz de France joins the "Grenelle de l'Environnement". The aim of this programme of ideas, launched by the Government in July 2007, is to establish an action plan of 20 to 30 concrete measures to promote environmentally sustainable development.

Six working groups of some forty people from different sectors (government, regional authorities, business, voluntary agencies), have been set up to examine the following priorities:

  • resisting climate change and controlling energy demand,
  • protecting biodiversity and natural resources,
  • constructing the institutions and governance for an environmentally aware democracy,
  • promoting environmentally sensitive development that will maintain competitiveness and jobs,
  • creating a health-enhancing environment, adopting sustainable methods of production and consumption (farming, fishing, food industry, retail, woodlands and sustainable land use).

Gaz de France is playing an active role in this work as a contributor of ideas.

The Group is also taking part in the "Grenelle de l'Environnement" through its participation in the "1 minute pour la Terre" (1 minute for the Earth) operation, instigated by WWF-France and ECOFORUM. Goal: to consult the public and draw up an inventory of environmental priorities in each of France's geographical departments.
