Closing of the agreements between Gaz de France and Dana Petroleum

September 28, 2006

Aberdeen, September 28, 2006 – The agreement, signed with Dana Petroleum on November 7, 2005, and which entitles Gaz de France to own stakes in three offshore exploration blocks in Mauritania (24% of block 1; 27.85% of block 7, and 17.5% of block 8) has been finalized.

The Group has thus confirmed its goal to lock in a significant position in a region in which the significant potential in terms of gas reserves offers sound prospects for development as of 2012 / 2014.

In return, Gaz de France sells Dana Petroleum equity interests in the British production fields of Johnston (22%) and Anglia (25%), as well as in the Egyptian exploration bloc of West El Burullus (30%).
